Windows 10 - cannot add exec to Startup in Task Manager

I purchased a new computer with Windows 10 already installed. I am trying to add an exec to the startup list but Win10 will not accept it. The exec runs successfully on my Windows 10 machine if I start it manually.

Steps I've taken: Task Manager, Startup Tab, File>Run New Task. (browse to location, select.) It will start immediately, but does not show up on the list to autostart, nor does it start on reboot.

Any suggestions?

Suggest cleaning up your startup list .There may be many services / Apps you can remove on startup which is not needed on boot or during shutdown.
Before you shutdown the Pc check what is running in Task Manager as a program or service in not killing the process on shutdown

Would suggest cleaning up running apps and services -Autoruns, StartupMonitor,HighjackThis,
Malware Scan - Malwarebytes,ADWcleaner, Combofix

 

Task Manager Startups Suspended


All non-MS apps show "Suspended" in "Task Manager", "Startup"
Getting set for a class and want to show how to Disable Apps from starting.
Have this on both laptop and Desktop.
Both Insider Preview17093. Laptop Home, Desktop Pro
msconfig, Startup, refers back to Task Manager which it should

No virus, both PC's clean and all else running with no problem.
