Windows 10: Every time my laptop sleeps the keyboard settings change

I recently reset my laptop to have a clean restart. Ever since anytime my laptop goes to sleep all of the keyboard settings change. Function keys settings get swapped or outright disappear and Win + R does not open the Run app.The only way that temporarily fixes the issue is to restart the laptop. This however does not last as as soon as it sleeps, the issue resurfaces.I have attempted to update the keyboard driver, but it is up to date. I have also tried deleting the driver all together.I have also tried the command powercfg –restoredefaultschemes, however either nothing happens at all or I g

Windows 10: prevent sleep mode from disconnecting wifi when copying files?

We suggest that you change the power options of your laptop. Kindly follow these steps:

• Press Windows logo key on the keyboard, type Power Options
  and select the top most search result.
• Click on Change when the computer sleeps option from the left side panel of the window and click on
  Change advanced power settings.
• Expand Sleep>Sleep after and choose
  Never from the drop down bar.
• Click on Apply and OK after setting the time.
• Close the window and check if the changes are effective.

Hibernating laptop changes to sleep behaviour after Windows 10 May 2019 update

Thank you for your reply. I have tried the two steps (turning of Hybrid sleep and Fast startup) you suggested but to no avail. Okay, for your two questions:

1. My laptop is a HP Pavilion 14-bf101tx, and currently running Windows 10 1903 (upgrading from 1809).
2. Nope. No error messages. I suppose the boot process was successful, however, my battery was reduced. That's why I suggest the post title as "Hibernating changes to sleep behaviour" because the battery level reduction looks like sleep behaviour.

Please inform me of any diagnostics information you might need. Thank you for your kind assistance.

 

Computer Sleep Option Missing in Settings

The Settings Power and Sleep menu in Settings should list Screen and Sleep, where Sleep is used to tell when the PC goes to sleep. Sleep is missing, so my computer never sleeps. Fast startup and Hibernate are not enabled.

I used Tutorial Add or Remove Sleep in Power menu in Windows 10 to change the registry while in administrative mode, but sleep still is not seen.


HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FlyoutMenuSettings now lists :1: It was 0 before the change.

I used Option 3 to add sleep using the Group Policy Editor. The steps seemed to work fine, but sleep is still missing.

I’m using a “new” refurbished Dell T3500 workstation with mbr running the current version of win10. I have a number of these computers, and the other all have the normal sleep mode .

Any suggestions? Jim
