Windows 10: Every USB storage device comes up with error 'Please insert a disc'

I have a problem with accessing all USB sticks on my laptop. I know the sticks work as they are OK on other devices of the same model laptop and some are brand new sticks. Things I have tried so far:Using a different portCheck for new drivers in device manager Installed all Windows updatesUpdated laptop BIOSUninstall all USB devices from device manager and let them reload on bootDeleted volume and recreated in disk managementTried to re-assign drive letter but this gives a 'Parameter is incorrect'Tried to format but get says 'Cannot format as device is offline' even though it shows as online

It seems that your USB is having an issue. We suggest running Check Disk to find and repair errors in the USB drive. To do so, please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X and then select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Copy and paste chkdsk E: /f, then hit Enter.

Please use chkdsk E: command to check the integrity of your USB drive.

Note: Change "E:" to the USB drive letter you're using.

All USB storage devices have code 39 error

Please answer these questions to assist you better.

• Do you get same error codes in the Device manager too?
• Does this issue occurs in other hardware components like keyboard and mouse?
• What is the make and model of your computer?
• Do you get same error when you connect your extenal hard drive to a different computer running Windows 10?
