Everything is too big in Windows 10

I'm just about fed up with Windows 10. I've been trying to get this thing working properly for 24 hours now.

I used the website link everyone was passing around to download Windows 10 bc my computer kept showing failed attempts at installing it. When it finished installing, my desktop screen looked a mess. Everything was super huge and text was blurry. I could not find anyone else who was having this issue. I went in and tried to change the display resolution and then everything looked too small. It's like Windows 10 just doesn't fit on my computer. I've re-installed it 3 times and it's the same every time.

    Can anyone help?

    :)

  2. Everything to too big in Windows 10 - no changes were made.

    Option 1:

Open Start > Settings > System > Display

Make sure recommended settings are selected for Scale and Layout and Screen resolution.

    Another thing you can try:

uninstall your display driver then restart

Boot to the Windows 10 desktop

    Press Windows key + X

    Click Device Manager

    Expand Display adapters

Right click the current display adapter

    Click Properties

    Click Driver tab

Click Rollback driver if the option is available

    If not

Right click the current display adapter

    Click Uninstall

    Exit Device Manager

    Restart

If that does not work, try performing a system restore before this problem occurred.

    I recommend you uninstall the KB4048955, KB4048954 (Windows 10 1703)

Microsoft issued an update for several versions of WIndows 10: KB4048954, KB4048955 that has caused issues with display drivers. If you know the make and model of your computer, you can try manually reinstalling the driver from the manufacturers website for
    your video driver.

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: appwiz.cpl

    Hit Enter

    Click View installed updates

    Select the recent update

(This is the update you want to uninstall KB4048955)

Right click it then click uninstall.

Restart then see if stability is restored.

The update might try to install again. So, try blocking it.

Is there an option or work around to block updates or hardware drivers that might cause problems?

Yes, Microsoft has released a KB update (KB3073930) that will let users block or hide Windows or driver updates.

You can download it at the following link:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

If its the icons and toolbars, then Go back to Start > Settings > System > Display

Click in the Scale and layout list box, try another scale such as 125 to see if that works or play around with custom scaling.

    Option 2:

    Perform a repair upgrade

Hello Toya, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Usually you get the best picture using the recommended screen resolution for your display. Afterwards, you can adjust the DPI scaling to your liking.

Hope this helps for now, *Smile

Everything is too big in Windows 10

I have been having this same issue, normally everything is smaller and sharp on 1080P, now that I have windows 10 all the windows I open are big and blurry. Couldn't find anything on it all yesterday, the display setting are already as small as they can possibly go, but everything is still huge. Looks like the desktop itself is 1080P, but every other window is opened as if its running at 240P or 360P.

Never mind I fixed it, yesterday the changes I was making weren't saving, today they did and everything actually went back to being proper

    Where do I get those?

I'm sorry I don't know what that means but I ran Belarc Advisor and under display it says this

    BB Capture Driver [Display adapter]
NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 [Display adapter]
    HP 2010 [Monitor] (19.9"vis, s/n 3CQ0211458, May 2010)

It's a screen with greater resolution than a equally-sized common one, in which pixels are smaller (greater DPI) like found in modern phones and tablets. For your OP description, it sounded like that.

That info lacks the display model "HP 2010" returns lots of things *Smile According to that output, you have the graphic drivers already installed (I don't know what is "BB Capture Driver")

It's a HP 2010i monitor? then it's not a high density screen, I suppose you have it set to 1600x900, right?

Initially, you should set your screen resolution to the computers native value i.e. the manufacturers resolution recommended for your pc. To set your computer to this resolution, right click on an open area of the desktop and you will open a task pane that has several choices. Select the Display Settings with your mouse pointer and the Display Settings Dialog box will open. From this box you can set the pc recommended resolution by clicking on the Advanced Display Settings tab inside the this dialog box.

The other issue i.e. Large Icons, sounds like an Icon size adjustment issue. Right click on blank area of your desktop, a task pane should open giving you several choices to place the mouse cursor on. You should put the mouse cursor on the word "View" and then another task pane will open giving you the choice of setting the Desktop Icon size to small, medium, or large.

    Hope this helps.
