EX HDD file transfer interrupted, error notice popup, is it ok?

i was moving files from my old win7 laptop to my external drive when it suddenly disconnect its 8 years old and tend to do that sometimes and show the error cant locate disk. when i plug the external drive to my new win10 laptop it says it detected an error and recommend a scan. i thought kinda obvious considering what just happened so after i reconnect the drive several time to see if the notification persist im quite sure theres someting wrong so i ordered the scan recommended not scan and fix. apparently it found some errors like this:

Chkdsk was executed in scan mode on a volume snapshot.

and told me to close and repair. after that i use the win10 error checking tool but it says no error were found.

    my question is:
    1. did it just fix itself automatically? i run several more error check on the external drive but it doesn't found any error?
    2. are the files i store are all ok?
    3. is my drive ok?
    4. is there something i should be worried about?

    :)

    Need Help Files Transfer

I have a computer running Windows XP Home Edition. That computer has two internal HDDs:

The 1st HDD is C:\ that running Windows. And it has 20GB total of capacity.
The 2nd HDD is D:\ that is empty. And it has 90GB total of capacity.

The C:\ drive is almost run out of space (full). Is there a way I can transfer everything in the C:\ drive to the D:\ drive and begin to use the D:\ drive from there on as primary drive?
Can the Windows Files Transfer feature in XP transfer everything I have in C:\ to D:\? If it cannot, then which way can I use to perform the above step?

    Thank you.

EX HDD file transfer interrupted, error notice popup, is it ok?

ERROR 0x8007045d when trying to transfer a video file to an external HDD

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern and will assist you to resolve this issue.

    • Are you facing this issue only with that video file or all the files.
    • Did you make any changes prior to this issue?

Method 1: You can perform a check disk to spot any error in your hard disk. To do so, right- click on the start button>select command prompt (admin)> type “chkdsk” and press enter.

This will display the exact errors occurring in your hard drive.

    Chkdsk disclaimer.

Important: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive when chkdsk tries to repair that sector if any data available on that might be lost

Method 2: It appears to me that this could be mostly a permission issue. You might not be having appropriate permissions to access these folders or files as this happens on a
    different computer also.

I suggest that you take full permission of the folders and check if you are able to copy these files.

If you are logged in as an administrator, you will need to take ownership Folders and files you are trying to copy.

Follow the steps to get Folder permission.

    • In File Explorer, right click on the documents folder.

    • Click Properties.

    • Click the Security tab.

    • Click on Edit to change the permissions.

    • Click the box to allow Home Users full control.

    • Click OK and make sure the change is applied to all subfolders and files.

    • Then try to copy the video files to HDD.

Method 3: Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with device. Refer these steps:

    • Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.

    • Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.

    • Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
