Windows 10: Exactly what is VirTool:Win32/DefenderTamperingRestore detected in MS Safety Scanner and...

I recently scanned my system with Microsoft Safety Scanner and it found and removed 38 VirTool:32/DefenderTamperingRestore. Exactly what is this, and how can I prevent it?

MS Safety Scanner & Windows Defender not removing Virus: Win32/Ramnit.A

I dunno how you were able to run the MS Safety Scanner since it's not supported in Win10 (or Win8.1). That being said...

1. Was AVG Free installed when you upgraded to Win10?

2. Did AVG and/or Windows Defender and/or possibly Windows Defender Offline detect
Virus: Win32/Ramnit.A?

 

Microsoft Safety Scanner found a Trojan Horse... vintool32/defendertamperingrestore.

My computer was was running slow and freezing up and I ran Microsoft Safety Scanner and it found and removed vintool32/defendertamperingrestore. I restarted my computer and it ran perfect for two days and I ran another scan and the same file was back.
Is there a way to fix this problem for good?

Can you scan the system using the Farbar Scanner and upload the logs to OneDrive/Dropbox? It should tell if any policy setting causes the Win32/DefenderTamperingRestore threat alert.

• Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST64.exe)
  
• Rename FRST64.exe to EnglishFRST64.exe.
  
• Run the program and click "Scan".
  
• Upload the two logs, FRST.txt and Addition.txt, to your OneDrive and share the link here.
