Excel 2013 runs out of available resources; not a RAM issue

Having upgraded PC, changed to Win10 and reinstalled Office 2013, I find a problem with one of my files (that used to work OK in Win7) - when I try to save, it says Excel has run out of resources and cannot evaluate my formulas. I am aware that it may be because I'm running Excel 32-bit not 64-bit - but it doesn't seem to come anywhere near the 2GB memory limit, and I now see the problem even when I simplify the spreadsheet to around 5 lines, 30 cells - so I think it's more likely to be the limit on 64 nested functions or something similar.

Unfortunately, and weirdly, the same simplified spreadsheet sometimes works fine (without me changing anything). It seems there's something internal in Excel which flips and allows the recalculation to work. I've tested 50 different versions, and the results are always inconsistent.

Anyway, having given the background, maybe someone can give some general advice on simplifying the structure of my spreadsheet, as I know it's overly complex. The structure of each line will have content like this (an example of just a few cells from row 263 - the whole thing is replicated across a few hundred rows, maybe a dozen sheets, also cross-referenced):

G263:
Code: =IF(AND(E263>D263,AND(A263="C",D263<>"")),E263-D263,IF(AND(E263>C263+30,AND(A263="C",D263="")),E263-C263-30,IF(AND(TODAY()>D263,AND(A263="W",D263<>"")),TODAY()-D263,IF(AND(TODAY()>C263+30,AND(A263="W",D263="")),TODAY()-C263-30,""))))
Q263:
Code: =IF(G263<>"",M263*G263/365*(8+$AB263)/100,IF(A263<>"W","",($M263*(IF(D263<>"",TODAY()-D263,TODAY()-C263-30))/365*(8+$AB263)/100)))
T263:
Code: {=SUM(IF($A:$A="C",IF($B:$B<>"NG",IF($K:$K<>0,IF($E:$E>=$Z262,IF($E:$E<$AA262,$K:$K,0),0),0),0),0))}
There must be an easier way of doing this than having multiple IF()s in each cell, e.g. via Functions, Macros, Arrays or something, but I'm not sure of the best way to proceed... Advice welcome!

:)

2. Excel 2013 spreadsheets open very slowly when Cortana is active

Dave O, you described it perfectly. Excel itself opens just fine, and opening files via Excel open just fine, but click on a file say on the desktop, and it takes maybe 10 seconds to open. As soon as I disabled Cortana and rebooted, the problem went away.
This did not seem to affect other Office apps (I am running Office 213). I too am running an i7 albeit a Lynfield, but it's OCed to 3.6GHz and runs everything very well; this is not a processor resource issue, and like Dave said, it's only opening Excel files
that there are problems. And it made no difference where that file was located.

Okay, I re-started Cortana, and it was working, and I looked at my resource monitor, and it was running less than 1%, so that does not seem to be the issue. And immediately upon re-starting Cortana, those Excel files were slow to load. So there is something
funky going on here. Also, Word files and PowerPoint files open just fine, it's just Excel. So it seems that Cortana and Excel (at least 2013) do not get along.

After install of Win 10 downloaded Excel files "corrupt"

I have the same problem since installing Windows 10. I get this message when I try to open files with Excel 2013. I can open them just fine in excel 2010 so I know the files are not corrupt. In my case this is an issue between Windows 10 and Excel 2013.
I tried to repair excel 2013 and tried the steps in the link but nothing works.
