Windows 10: Excel Creates tmp files on USB drive and not on internal hard drives

When I open an Excel file stored on a USB drive, when I save this file it creates a .tmp file along with the saved file. When I open this same Excel file stored on my hard drive and save it, no .tmp file is created. When I try to delete the .tmp files off of the USB drive they look like they are deleted, but when I get out of file explorer and then go back in, the .tmp files are still there. Only when I use "diskpart", Select Disk, then change the disk's attributes to clear readonly, can I then truely delete these files. Also, if I try to eject the USB drive it is telling me that it is in

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Plug USB hard drive into old computer.
• Open File Explorer (Win+E) and open the USB drive.
• Open another File Explorer window and open your documents folder.
• Drag files to the USB drive.
• Move drive to new computer.
• Drag files to their new homes in the matching documents/pictures/videos/whatever folders you use to organize.

Creating a Recovery Drive on USB flash Drive

Hi,

Since it didn't work using a USB, we suggest that you try to create a Recovery Drive on an external hard drive and check if it will work. Some times using higher storage device like external hard drive can help in utilizing the files.

hi i just update my pc to another version and then when he load up tmp file is in my hard drive using 900gb someone could help me ?!?!?!??!Reset_SafeToDelete_OverwriteSpaceFile_0.tmp
