Windows 10: Excel files icon is not the original but the app one

So I decided to open an excel file with "opne with" and I chose the excell app and not the icon is not as the original one but its showing the same icon as in the app, how can I revert that?

Already tried the REGEDIT thing but in the Explorer folder the FilesExts is missing so I dont know what to do. As you can see the word file looks as normal but not the excel one

What happens when you click on the Excel 2016 App icon?

Try Removing Apps From The All Apps List by following the below steps.

Step 1: Right-click on Excel 2016 from All Apps List > Click on
More > Open file location.

Step 2: After clicking Open file location, a new File Explorer window will appear showing you the application shortcut, so you may want to delete that shortcut,
restart the computer once, and check for the issue.

Alternatively, you may also press the Windows and R keys > Type or copy/paste the following command and hit
Enter.

%appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

Then, look for Excel 2016 shortcut and delete it. Once deleted, restart the computer once, and check for the issue.

If you are still facing the same issue, I would suggest you to post a Screenshot
of the Apps list, where you are seeing the Excel shortcut.

Give it a shot and let us know of any changes.

Hello sir, I truly appreciated your response. Thank you so much, by the way, I have tried those mentioned workaround, however I still cannot
remove the icon, whenever I right click the app icon,
there is no option to "Open File Location", I tried to choose uninstall, but it does not remove the icon, Please help me, Im begging you sir, I hope you could help me with this.

It sounds like you have Ransomware Protection turned on in Windows Security. You can check to see if it has recently blocked your Excel. See Option One in this tutorial, at Step 5 click 'Recently blocked apps'. If Excel appears there, add it to the list of allowed apps.
