Windows 10: Excessive and increasing memory consumption since installing Windows 10 Pro x64 Version 2004

Hello and help please.,


I have a quad 2.1 Ghz system with 8 Gb ram. Before installing Win 10 Ver 2004 I was running 19-27% of RAM with only Spotify running. After the update I'm running 52-64% Ram with NOTHING running.


I'll start out before going to work and after a fresh boot at about 22% of ram in use. By the time I get home, 8 hours later, ram is at 56-62% and the only things running are the O/S and My A/V Kaspersky.


I've switched from Avast to Kaspersky, thinking that Avast may have developed another of its world famous memory leaks but to no avail.


I don't run Spotify as it's based on Chromium which is a memory hog and the only thing I can see is that Kaspersky "Seems" to be taking a larger percentage of memory after eight hours.


Any place I could look, I'd appreciate a hint. I have two systems doing this.

Clean Windows 10 (?PRO?) install

As far as I am aware there is no Windows 10 Pro version.
But I'd be happy to be wrong.

 

BATTERY excessive battery consumption

After a few days the situation is the same. This is the new battery report:






Another problem is that the pc does not shut down, when shutting down the system the screen turn off but the processor remains on. I cannot find any post about that for w10.

Thank you all for your advice. I have followed all the links you have given and done as suggested. It will be interesting to see how much effect this has effect.

This is what my usage looked like. I haven't a clue as to what nvBackend is and, on seeing what the solitaire collection uses (I play several games a day), I realise just how much I miss the simple, yet effective games that came with Win 7.
