Windows 10: Excessive Data Usage by Windows System

Why is Windows System using excessive data? Over the past month it downloaded close to 4 terabytes of data. Over 75% of this was downloaded in the past 7 days. When I checked my real-time network utilization it showed that consistently that "Service Host: Network Service - Delivery Optimization" was constantly using around 50 mbps of my bandwidth.I have since turned off delivery optimization, but this is ridiculous. I am now going to be paying Xfinity $100 in overage charges this month as I have clearly exceeded my 1.2 TB data limits.Assuming that this is the reason for the issue, why does

Excess data usage on Windows 10

What is causing excess data use in Windows 10? Data usage jumped 26 GB in a little over 1 hour this morning. Only thing open is my email a finance app.

 

Options to control excessive data usage

A phone reset would take the phone back to its factory setting. Just like it was when you switched the phone on, the very first time.

After you do a phone reset, use the phone as it is, without installing any apps for a few days. During these days, if you are still seeing excessive data usage, then the OS is corrupt and the phone would need replacing. If there is no excessive data usage,
then the phone is phone and the rogue app that was influencing such behaviour has now been removed by the phone reset operation.

Please do a data backup before you do the reset.

I have experienced excessive data usage on a metered WiFi connection. The only thing that is using excessive amounts of data is 'System.' What falls under System? Verizon people say it is a problem with my computer?? Frustrated.
