  1. Excessively High CPU Usage Possible Infection

    Hello,

I have recently been dealing with excessively high CPU usage for the past few weeks. I could not find what was causing it until I opened up Performance Monitor, showing me that the responsible .exes were SearchApp.exe, LockApp.exe, ShellExperienceHost.exe, YourPhone.exe, Microsoft.Photos.exe, backgroundTaskHost.exe, and others which I have forgot the names of when opening up performance monitor, their names are in blue as they have been paused. When I deactivate these applications, my CPU usage normally drops from around 90% to around 25%.

I have used both Windows Defender and Malwarebytes to do full scans of my computer, but both of them failed to pick up anything wrong aside from a minor, unrelated problem picked up by Malwarebytes. I have done some searching and it appears that these applications might be Trojans designed to mine cryptocurrency it would make sense, as it started around the time as I was doing some careless downloads.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    :)

  2. cpu usage high internet slow windows 7

Brevity can be a virtue but it can also be counter-productive.

    • Which application demands excessive CPU resources?
    • What would you like to ask?

  3. system process high cpu usage

    Hello,

To fix high CPU usage issue, please refer these steps:

Try to identify the process creating this issue.

    Download Process Explorer from Microsoft:

    Process Explorer - Windows Sysinternals

Run the tool then select the system process, right-click and select Properties.

Switch to the Threads tab. This will show which file is using the excessive CPU usage, from which you can then attempt to diagnose it.

    VERY HIGH CPU USAGE

Hey there Kristian, first I'd suggest using your task manager and seeing if Windows antimalware executable is going on, because it can spike high cpu usage rates. Afterwords, i'd like for you to do a scan with your windows defender, as it may be malware
    infecting your computer.
