  1. Excluding disks from being formatted - during Windows 10 re-imaging process

I'm migrating my Windows 10 from an older SSD to a newer larger SSD, I've gotten through the backup fine and installed the physical new SSD fine. The point where I'm currently at and want to ask here about is with the, "Re-image Your Computer" "Select disks to exclude from the restore process. These disks will not be formatted or repartitioned."It then lists my 5 secondary hard drives/SSD's, including the SSD I'm migrated my WIndows 10 system to. If I'm reading the description correctly then I just need to click to check mark the 4 hard drives/SSD's that I want excluded from being formatted/re

    Hi,

Please follow the steps below to format your disk to NTFS:

    • Press Windows key + X, then select Computer Management.
    • Click Disk Management.
    • Right-click on the drive or partition you want to format, then click
      Format
      .
    • From this window, you may set your preferred Volume label,
      File system(e.g. NTFS)
      , and Allocation unit size.
    • Click OK to start the format process.

Feel free to post back should you need further help.

How To Format A Write Protected Flash Memory ?

    ¿You already tried this one?...

    Run CMD

    1. diskpart
    2. list disk

Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

    2. select disk #
    3. clean
    4. create partition primary
    5. select partition 1
    6. active
    7. format fs=fat32
    8. assign
    9. exit

with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.

    good luck!

  4. Excluding disks from being formatted - during Windows 10 re-imaging process

    Help, cant create windows image

    Hello there, @fullinfusion!

It seems like some sort of an OS confusion has happened with your secondary WD Black and I'm sorry to hear about that. *Frown Excluding disks from being formatted - during Windows 10 re-imaging process :(
Maybe re-formatting it would help indeed as the community already mentioned. I'd suggest to take a look at this step-by-step how to partition and format an HDD: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=PYCoid
Keep in mind that this will wipe clean the drive, so you should backup all important data from the drive somewhere else.
I noticed from the screenshots that your HDD appears as Disk 0, this means that it's plugged in the primary SATA port where the SSD (as an OS drive) should be. Actually it is possible that because of this Windows cannot create the image there. Swap the ports of the SSD and the HDD, this might help as well.

Keep me posted. Hope this helped! *Smile Excluding disks from being formatted - during Windows 10 re-imaging process :)
