Discus and support .exe file with random characters as name randomly appeared in C: directory, does anyone... in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; I've recently found a file called "5lCNw8x5Q.exe" in my C: folder, which was apparently created on 18th may.     I've recently found a file called "5lCNw8x5Q.exe" in my C: folder, which was apparently created on 18th may. I checked it on virustotal https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/be9ea282263b3bf71430b4bb4adc79dd32e3bd0dcac42e700401721160ba8271 and two things that were of note to me were the fact that it said one of the signatures were revoked, and there were other submissions with similar random names. Has anyone had this file before or know what it is? I will be running a few AVs and will update the post if I find anything. Thank you.

    Two random directories appear in C Root drive and in the USER directory

    I keep getting two directories that show up in both the root of the C drive and in the User Directory. Each directory has a .MDB, .XLS, .XLSX, .JPG, .TXT, .RTF, .DOC, .DOCX, .SQL amd a .PEM file located in the directory. None of the files will open with
    the applications matching the extensions. The file names all appear to be randomized junk file names.

    I keep deleting them and they reappearing.

    There may be several reasons why these folders appear randomly in your C Drive. For proper isolation, kindly answer the queries below:

    • When did the issue start?
    • Any recent changes made on the computer prior to the issue?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done to resolve the issue?
    • Have you tried running an anti-virus scan to check for any file infection?
    • Which Windows 10 version/build is currently installed on your PC? To check, type winver in the search option.

    Gathering Names Of Multiple Files

    Try this snippit in a batch file:

    You have to specify where to go with the batch file, which is what the cd command is for. Then, once the prompt is in that directory, the last command lists all of the files (including directories) in the list_of_files.txt text file, since dir is a command, not the directory location. *Smile .exe file with random characters as name randomly appeared in C: directory, does anyone... :)

    Edit: Also, if your directory has spaces, you may have to put the directory in quotes, such as:
