Windows 10: .exe file won't open anymore after resetting PC

I have a .exe file that used to work fine until I reset my windows 10 desktop about a month ago. I am able to open this exact file on an external HDD on other window 10 PCs so I know it's just my desktop.Things I've tried:1 Redownloading the software2 I reset my PC again from scratch. This time deleting everything on both of my drives instead of just my C drive.3 Trying to open the application in safe mode4 Going to Registry Editor and making sure the value is set to "%1" %* in the location HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command5 Disabling all firewalls6 Running malwarebytes to mak

Volume Mute Light won´t change color

Which steps did you perform? Was this from a clean boot?
Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste this command: shutdown /r /o /f /t 00
It will boot to the recovery options or windows advanced troubleshooting menu.
Click troubleshooting and click reset this computer. You will be saving files. Applications and programs will be removed. Windows will be reinstalled.
Enter your windows logon password.
You will see getting things ready with rotating dots.
Click resetting this PC.
It will then display the HP logo with resetting this PC with rotating dots and a percentage.

 

Unable to open .exe files anymore.

I recently installed Kaspersky Internet Security and have since not been aboe to open any executable file (.exe files) anymore. Any ideas why this is happening now?

 

Exe file slow to open

A SFX archive isn't going to open right away. The files have to be extracted first. When you are opening it in WinRar, it's not extracting the file, it's just reading it which is why it opens right away.
