  1. .exe Setups failing to open even after providing Admin access.

Recently, I manually deleted a few hard to remove programs from my Win 10 PC, by deleting their program files in C:\

I also manually tried cleaning up the local disk as only 35 GB was left there....and after deleting some unnecessary files at least that's what I thought ;, I restarted my desktop to find 115 GB of free storage available in the C:\ drive now...the computer, itself had become faster...

But now when I try to install any .exe setup file NoxPlayer Setup in this case *Note- I had installed the same program before the cleaning up, and the installation was a breeze the Setup asks for admin privileges and even after providing those, the Install Shield or any other installer wizard does not open...in fact after getting the permission no other window opens at all, hence I don't get any error messages either...

Is there any way to fix it without reinstalling the OS?

    :)

  3. angus Win User
Settings can't be opened using the built-in administrator account

    Hello,
Unfortunately I have the same issue as Dabz from upgrading win7 to win10.
I've tried opening settings using all the suggested methods and it will not load using my account with Administrator access nor the built-in Administrator profile. I also tried other methods not listed such as using Run. Control panel is just a stepping stone to add users in Settings.
I'm also having explorer.exe issues, which I believe is preventing Settings from loading.
Using cmd (Admin) I successfully created a new user profile [and granted admin access also using cmd (Admin)], however win10 will not allow this account to log on. win10 does not list this new user within control panel but it does in the start menu. win10 will not allow to log in or switch to the new account via the start menu either.
I can access settings in Safe Mode but this will not allow me to create a new account.
Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

  4. .exe Setups failing to open even after providing Admin access.

    Chrome not even opening anymore

    Hi,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. I understand the inconvenience you are facing. I will certainly help you with this.

I appreciate if you could answer few questions to narrow down the issue and to provide you better assistance.

    • Are you able to open other browser like Internet explorer and Edge?
This issue may arise due to some corruption in Chrome installation files. I suggest you to try installing Google Chrome in compatibility mode and check if it works. Compatibility mode runs the program using settings
from a previous version of Windows. Follow these steps to install the program in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

    • Download the setup file from the Google Chrome website.
    • Right-click on the .exe setup file and click on ‘Properties’.
    • Click on the ‘Compatibility’ tab and check the box
‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’
and select Windows 7/8/8.1 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

Hope this information helps. Post back with updated issue details for further help.

    Thank you.
