Nuts and bolts of the situation, Running an HP 17" 4by laptop. I just upgraded the C drive SSD from 128 GB to 500 GB. Cloning process went smoothly and error free. Anyhow I try to allocate the new available space I have an lo and behold I can not. Please advise. Here are some screen shots. Here is what the my computer screen is showingSO windows recognizes the new drive and size in disk management yet in my comoputer it is not recognized due to unallocated space. I need to like I stated previously expand the volume but it is grayed out. Please help.

    Expand Stoge

    Hi Garry,

Expanding the D drive will require the usage of the built-in Disk Management tool.

To open the disk management tool and to extend the size of your D drive, follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter.
    • In the Disk Management screen, just right-click on the partition that you want to shrink (C drive) and select “Shrink Volume” from the menu.
    • In the field provided in the Shrink dialog box, enter the amount of space needed to shrink the disk and click Shrink (Note:
      1GB is equal to 1000MB).
    • Once done, it will create an Unallocated space .
    • On the lower part of the Disk Management window, right-click on D drive and select "Extend Volume".
    • Click Nexton the Extend Volume Wizard window.
    • Click Next to allocate the space you've created.
    • Select Finish.
    • Restart your computer.

Let us know if you have any other concerns.
