Windows 10: explorer.exe continuously crashing since the 2024-12 cumulative update for Windows...

Hello!After automatically installing the KB5048161 and KB5048652 updates my explorer.exe process keeps crashing and restarting every ~7 seconds. Uninstalling these updates fixes the crash loop, though from the looks of it I can't seem to pause the windows updates.Seeing the reply to this thread, https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/has-this-happened-to-anyone-else/82d290cf-c06f-4c27-817e-515727f03b62, I grabbed some crash dumps using WER and it seems to always be crashing in:> explorer.exe!std::basic_string<unsigned short, struct std::char_traits<unsigned short>, c

Cumulative updates for Windows - May 2024

We have multiple Windows 10 22H2 workstations that do not detect 2024-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5037768). If you run the Windows update list in powershell or click "Check for updates" we see the following:

KB5037771 134GB Windows 11, version 23H2

The KB listed appears to be related to the 2024-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 11. Why is this appearing on a Windows 10 machine and why won't the Windows 10 machine detect 2024-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5037768)? We have attempted the Windows Update reset script on affected already without resolution to this issue.

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.

Windows explorer crashing

Hi,

I am having the same problem as the OP in this thread.
Windows Explorer crashes whenever I open my external HDD or thumb drive in explorer..

I have tried the fixes listed in the above thread and I am getting the same error message as 'ktadie' (post 16). I think this is because I am running Windows 7 Professional. Windows explorer crashes when I open my 'Films' folder on my brand new 2tb external HDD. I have about 300 .avi files in this folder and some of the .avi files are several years old.

In short I believe I need the same fix given by 'Wile E' (post 7) but updated for Windows 7 Professional.
