Windows 10: Explorer.exe crashes randomly a few times a day

For some reason, explorer.exe crashes a few times a day. It's very bothersome and I'm worried there might be more underlying problems.

It was happening on Windows 8 for some months on my old SSD, so I bought a brand new SSD and installed Windows 10 on it.

However, I'm still experiencing the same issue.

I did research on BEX64 and as far as I know, something on my computer is causing a buffer overflow and DEP is catching it and restarting explorer to be safe. I don't know how to figure out what might be causing it, though.

As mentioned, I just recently clean formatted this computer with Windows 10, so I don't have very many programs installed. My programs are:

• Firefox
• Chrome
• Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2019
• SourceTree
• Unity
• Photoshop CS6
• Steam
• Slack
• Discord
• Razer Synapse (for my mouse)
• Dropbox
• Notepad++
• Bandicam (rarely use it, but it's a screencap tool)

I've used pretty much all of these programs for years, but issues only started happening a few months ago.

Any idea how I can debug this further, short of doing another clean format & installing programs one at a time? (I don't have time to do this, because the crashes only happen a couple times a day and are not easily reproducible)

media player/internet explorer randomly crashes

i have had my computer going for about 5 months, and at times divx, windows media player, winamp, and internet explorer will randomly crash on me, i can play everquest for days, and any other game i got doesn't crash, everything seems to work fine except those programs, does anybody have any idea what this might be.

My explorer.exe has been crashing randomly and I can't figure out why.

Also sometimes constantly right clicking my desktop would crash it as well.

The reliability history shows the times when explorer.exe crashed randomly. It usually happens around night time.

 

10 Crashing Randomly and During Updates and File Downloads

I have a Windows 10 PC that I run 24/7. I have Windows Updates disabled through the Group Policy Editor. I still perform updates manually every few days. Windows Defender updates work fine. Other Windows updates cause the PC to crash, no BSOD or anything, it just turns off. I've looked for 1074, 6006, and 6008 event log files to explain why and I haven't been able to find anything.

Other times the computer just randomly crashes and also sometimes when downloading files. The symptom is the same, I check on it and find it powered down or it just shuts off while I'm using it. It boots back up fine and I see no cause listed in the event logs.

I have been through the 3 tests suggested to me on the old thread. SMART looked good, memtest ran for 33 hours for 8 passes with no errors, and prime was run for 3 hours with no errors.

I think the next step was to run V2 Log collector, that data is attached.

Any help is appreciated.
