Windows 10: Explorer.exe issue? cannot click on taskbar OR on desktop & application windows

Hello,


I'm facing a curious issue.

I'm running Windows 10 20H2.


Since few days now, on boot, I cannot click on the icon is taskbar Windows menu, tray icon & application shortcut and when I restart explorer.exe, it solve this issue, but create another one : I can't click on desktop icon & application window.


restarting explorer.exe? Going back to the first issue...


I tried to to a clean boot msconfig -> disable all except windows services + task manager -> startupt -> disable all


Any idea?

Cannot launch File Explorer from taskbar in Windows 10

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• First unpin the File Explorer from the task bar.
• Press Windows + E.
• And right click on File Explorer in the taskbar.
• And Pin the File Explorer to Taskbar and Check if it helps.

Issue with opening exe files and opening apps from taskbar

when i try and open exe files from my file browser or my desktop it comes up with "you'll need a new app to open this .exe file" and when i try and open apps from taskbar it says C:\Users\Home\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User
Pinned\TaskBar\(application name).lnk

Application not found" I'm not sure what the issue is but i hope you can help figure it out.

 

Windows Explorer Replacement?

are you running IE7? if not that wouold be my first suggestion,upgrade to ie7 that can fix some stability issues with windows explorer
