Windows 10: Explorer FTP error "No more internet handles can be allocated"

Have a couple of HDDs connected to router via USB
FTP paths were added to File Explorer using "Add a network location"
Still works for read, write, delete and drag and drop for all devices on the network except for one laptop on the same network.
The offending laptop throws a FTP folder error ""No more internet handles can be allocated". It happens to be the laptop which would do the majority of file transfers so could a limit have been reached?



The laptop and router were restarted. The network path was deleted and re-created as well, but the error persists.
Is there a way to reset or release the internet handles?
Any suggestions or solutions will be appreciated.

FTP Error "No more internet handles can be allocated"

Hi,

While copying files from FTP we are getting error like

"No more internet handles can be allocated"
I am trying to copy the large amount of text files near about 10,000 from FTP , when it copy near about 8000 suddenly getting error like

"No more internet handles can be allocated" and stopped copying file and also disconnect the FTP link but after restart the PC it start working again.

Please help to resolve the issue, will grateful to you. I am not understanding why i am getting this type of error.

FTP security issues using Internet Explorer and File Explorer Connections

• Which version of Internet Explorer?
• Which FTP site are you trying to open?

This issue can be caused, when you try to access the FTP site from behind a Web proxy firewall such as the Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server firewall.



If you are using Internet Explorer to access the FTP site, I would suggest you check the Internet Explorer FTP client settings.

How to change the Internet Explorer FTP Client mode

• Start Internet Explorer.
• Press the Alt key and On the Tools menu, click
  Internet Options.
• Click the Advanced tab.
• Under Browsing, click the Enable folder view for FTP sites check box.
• Click OK.
• Close Internet Explorer.

Windows 10 default apps by protocol Cannot change FTP to explorer

We suggest that you follow the methods below to troubleshoot FTP issues with Internet Explorer.

Method 1:

• Open Internet Explorer.
• Click Tools.
• Select Internet Options.
• Open Advanced tab.
• Look at Enable FTP folder view checkbox. Check it if it isn't checked.
• Repeat the above steps with Use Passive FTP.

Method 2:

Temporarily disable the firewall/ anti-virus installed on your PC.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily
