Windows 10: Explorer Refresh Issues

The last few days I've been having issues with Explorer not refreshing automatically when copying/pasting/deleting files from folders. I have to manually Ctrl+R in order for the files to appear or disappear. I've also encountered a problem where Explorer crashes if I drag a file over the list of hard drives.

I've gone through the motions. Restarting, ending the process, rebooting. Doesn't work. There are a few forums online about the first part of the problem, namely this one. None of the options including a registry hack have fixed it. I suspect this was caused by an update recently but I don't know which one. As for Explorer crashing, when I drag files across the drive list, no idea.

Windows Explorer refuses to refresh Explorer

Masterchef,

I have had this problem and so have lots of other people. None of the suggested solutions I found on the internet had anything other than a temporary effect. The problem eventually went away of its own accord but still rears its ugly head from time to time. I only kept a few links on the subject -

When the problem reappears, I restart the computer. If that does not resolve matters then I accept the situation and don't waste my time chasing non-solutions. You might wish to consider adopting the same approach.

File Explorer stopped refreshing

Thanks for the suggestion, Spunk. That sounds a bit drastic for the issue, but when it becomes annoying enough to justify, and when I have the time and patience to try it, it may be the next step.

 

Odd windows explorer refresh issue


I wasn't sure which area to post this.

I've been seeing a rather annoying issue where I'll have a windows explorer window open on one of two monitors and I'll have highlighted file 2200 out of 6000 and on the other screen I'll be actively typing in info into a spreadsheet or browsing the web or reading emails and then my windows explorer jumps back to the top of the list. I believe I have tracked it down to my slideshow timer. Every time the background changes on either screen, the refresh happens on the windows explorer window. I did not see the issue on Win7 which I previously ran with similar theme setups.

Is anyone else seeing this issue? Is there a solution?
