This does not appear to be an access problem because it is possible to convince explorer to show the contents in some cases with some effort but the effect is temporary and returns to being secretive very easily. Example …I select the S: Share drive = shows empty. In the navigation pane, expand the Share drive and it’s directory structure is revealed.Select the Share drive and it shows the drive contents. Once explorer shows the contents, everything is mostly accessible. A small test file .txt can be opened with Word but not Notepad. In fact, most files will

Connecting NAS - mapping of drives

Ok, If you want, we can do a step by step troubleshooting of your current situation: If you are able to ping your Machine and it responds. Code:
Try to view if your NAS appears on the Network List: Code:
If Your NAS appears on the list, try to view it: Code:
The available shares will be listed there. Then Try to List the content of one of the directories: Code:
This should list the content of the directory, If all this works Try to map a drive on one share: Code:
Pls reply with the "response" of the first "encounter" of a non positive output. This exercise should reveal if you have a Network or Protocol or Cipher or Authentication problem.

NAS not showing in Mapping Wizard

Since I updated to Windows 10 Build 16299 I ran into the following anomaly. When I want to map a folder in one of my WD NAS's to my desktop PC, I hit "Map Network Drive" in Windows at the top of Explorer. The Map Network Drive wizard is then opened and when
I then click on the network icon in the "Browse For Folder" window, the map and directory trees for the connected devices is not being displayed. It used to work well in previous builds of Win 10. Have you any idea how I can get this to work correctly again?

    Thanks,

    Hans

    Mapped Drives Issues

To clarify .... the issue is the Windows 10 OS. It is with Windows File Explorer. The Mapped drives used to appear in File Explorer's left panel list of drives and folders. Two days ago File explorer stopped show the mapped drives. so not they don;t appear in the list of Drives and folders.

I did, it has no effect. I also check the NAS devices they support SMB 2.0. Also I have several other computers on my home network they work fine with the mapped drives and They do not have SMB 1 turned on. So it is something that happened to the computer in question.
