  1. Explorer taking ages to open a folder (fine in safe mode though)

    Hey all

So as the title suggests, I've just started having this issue today. When I try and open a folder in file explorer, it takes 10-30 seconds to open the folder.

    Things I've done:

    • Virus scan (Malwarebytes)
    • Uninstalled Malwarebytes
    • Deleted Quick access cache
    • Rebooted PC
    • Disabled/Restarted Windows Search service

I booted into safe mode to see if this issue would still happen as that might point to a problem with my SSD but in safe mode browsing folders is lightning fast. Just when I boot into normal mode it takes ages.

    Any ideas?

Download folder takes an age to load

    Hey there WightWalker,

Not sure if you have found your solution yet, but I was struggling with this particular issue since installation of Windows 10. A number of my folders took forever to sort by Date, size or anything except the standard Windows Explorer Display.
Luckily, there is an exact solution that works like a charm!!
    Step 1: Open Explorer
Step 2: Go to the folder that you have issues with (but don't go into the folder)
Step 3: Right click on the folder, and select Properties
Step 4: Click on the "Customize" tab
Step 5: Under the "Optimize this folder for:" drop down, change this to "General Items"
Step 6: Tick the box that says include subfolders
Step 7: Click Apply and OK
Step 8: Done, move on to your next problem folder and repeat Explorer taking ages to open a folder (fine in safe mode though) :)

Unable to Start in Safe Mode Win10

I understand that as repeating the basic problem. Is that what you mean? I can't tell you why- some sort of corruption- hence all the steps I'm suggesting. Please try each in turn.

The first are to check for basic forms of corruption and so proceed onwards in order.
