Windows 10: Exporting files from Mac Mini to new Windows machine

I am switching from a Mac mini to Windows and I need to export all my photo, music and document files. is there a way I can export all my photos, but still keep them organized? I have taken great lengths to organize them by dates locations and trips and would love to be able to export and keep them organized the same rather than just a pile of thousands of mixed photos. Same goes for music. My documents are not as organized, but I was hoping there was some way I could scan my Mac to see what all is on there since it has 7 years worth of documents on it. IS there a specific program I can purch

Correct. HFS+ will not work on windows, unless you purchase extra software.

If you want the external drive to work on Windows and Mac AND also allow files larger than 4GB, then you need to format as NTFS from a Windows machine and run a program from your Mac like Macfuse or NTFS-3G to read the NTFS file system.


The other option is to format in HFS+ (mac) and buy a program called MacDrive that allows Windows computers to read Mac formatted drives. I think it's like $50.

That's pretty much all I can remember from my Mac days. I haven't used one in a couple years.

 

Migrating to new computer

quickest thing todo is to plug the drive into the new machine and start copying
as for the favorites
you can export then easily using the file menu

• Start Internet Explorer.
• On the File menu, click Import and Export, and then click Next.
• Click Export Favorites and then click Next.
• Click Favorites and then click Next.
• Type the name of the file that you want to export the favorites to
• after witch you can import them into your browser of choice either IE,Edge,Chrome,Firefox

Its better to format it to NTFS and run a program to allow mac to read it. This an ext. hard drive right. Windows is everywhere.
