Windows 10: Exporting from Access 2016 to Mac OSX Shared drive

Exporting from Access 2016 to Mac OSX Shared driveHave successfully mapped the OSX server share as Z: this required SMB 1 to be installed Windows 10From file manager I can navigate to the share and copy over files and remotely create folders etc. I cannot save an export from within MS Access. Could this be because while Win 10 is happy talking to an SMB1 share, MS Access isn't?

Cannot connect to Mac OSX on network

Hey rtcary,
I'm assuming you say you can't connect to the Mac, because it isn't showing in the Win10 PC > Networks. Have you tried manually accessing the Mac PC from your Win10 PC > File Explorer > Address Bar and type in \\Mac-PC-Name or \\Mac-IP-Address ?

I don't know what SMB version Mac OSX uses, but if you can access the Mac using the above, then on the Win10 PC check and see if maybe SMBv1 Server/Client got uninstalled by going to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows Featrues On/Off and look for SMB1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support and click the Plus(+) to see all the options.

 

Data Recovery for Mac (OSX Capitan) ?

Anybody knows of a good data recovery software for mac? Preferably free?

I use Active@ Data Recovery for Windows, but honestly no idea what to use for Mac OSX.

Any suggestions?

 

Shared partition between OSX and Windows 10 (using Bootcamp) Disappeared?

So after much research I managed to resolve the issue. Looks like ExFAT is susceptible to corruption, but you can actually repair it in terminal. In hindsight it looks like a better solution would have been to format the shared drive as NTFS and use Paragon NTFS to read/write to the share in OSX.

Solution

If you encounter a similar issue with ExFAT under OSX, the steps to solve it are as follows:

1. Find out your partition identifier in Terminal by running the command
   
   diskutil list
   
2. run the following command to repair the disk (replace disk0s4 with whatever your partition name is according to step 1)
   
   sudo fsck_exfat -d disk0s4
   

The disk will be scanned and repaired (you will be prompted whether you want to repair).
