    Extend a volume on Windows10

I am connecting a HDD besides C drive on my Windows10 computer.

Total disk size is 465.76GB, and there is a F drive 232.44GB NTFS and 232.88GB Unallocated, and a 460 MB Recovery partition.

I want to extend these two to make a one big drive.

Right click on F drive and extend volume, press next and Finish, a message appears,

Thre is not enough space available on the disks to complete this operation.

Next, at the Select Disks men, the Maximum available space in MB is 238,463.

Reduce the value in "the Select amount of space in MB " to 220,000, and make the Total size in megabytest to 458,023.

However, it again shows the same message,

Thre is not enough space available on the disks to complete this operation.

The total capacity of this HDD is 465.76GB and Recovery partition is 460MB.

I assumed that, the maximum capacity I can make would be 465.30GB. But reduce the extend volume size to 458,023MB wouldn't solve this problem.

How can I make a big one drive on this disk?

    :)

  2. How to extend OS drive volume in Windows 10.?

, just right-click on the partition that you want to shrink, and select “Extend Volume” from the menu

I want to extend so your answer is really frustrating ans. I want to extend so why should i shrink and select extend? Extend option is already Dim or unavailable?

Looks like you'll need to go dynamic.

Extend Volume in disk managment not working

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. Let me help you.

    • Since when did the issue started appearing?

    • Have you made any changes in settings prior to the issue?

    • Do you receive any error code or error message on the screen?

I suggest you to follow the exact steps mentioned below and check if you are able to perform the action.

    • Run Disk Management. Open Run Command (Windows button +R) a dialog box will open and type "diskmgmt.msc".

    • In the Disk Management screen, just right-click on the partition that you want to shrink, and select “Extend Volume” from the menu

    • Locate your system partition — that’s probably the C: partition. Right-click on it and select “Shrink Volume.” If you have multiple partitions on your hard drive, you could also choose to resize a different partition to free up
      space.
    Check if it helps.

Please reply with the details and updated status of the issue. We will be happy to assist you further.
