"Extend Desktop" does not work in a multi-monitor environment in Windows 11 24H2

The feature equivalent to "Extend these display" in Windows 11 system settingslike this image no longer works in third-party apps. From my own research, it appears to be due to an update of “SetConfigDisplay” Win32 API. Two months ago, I reported it to Feedback Hub and developer forum, but only got a perfunctory response from the bot and no progress. Is there any way for app developers or individuals to address this 24H2 specific issue?

    :)

  2. How do I extend the desktop to three monitors in Windows 11?

I have a three-monitor setup: one monitor is built into my laptop, one is connected via the laptop's HDMI port, and the third is connected via a USB to HDMI extender. All 3 monitors are recognized when I go into display setting, and I can see my desktop on all three monitors. Further, I can extend my desktop to monitors 1 and 2 or to 2 and 3 but not to all three at the same time. This worked seamlessly in Windows 10, but I'm having issues in Windows 11. I'm in the process of migrating to a new laptop. The laptop's bios is up to date, and it was necessary to install a new driver for the USB to HDMI video extender (a J5 Create model JUA365) to get the 3rd monitor to show up in the Windows 11 display settings.

The problem I'm seeing is that there is no option such as "Extend the desktop to all monitors" in the display settings. I've seen all of the following choices: "Extend desktop to 1 and 2," Extend desktop to 1 and 3," "Extend desktop to this display," "Disconnect this display," "Duplicate desktop on 1 and 3, and "Duplicate desktop on 2 and 3." All of the choices listed here seem to work except "Extend desktop to this display." Based on these choices, I'm expecting to extend the desktop to 1 and 2 (which works), then select monitor 3 among the available monitors that appear in the monitor configurator, then select "Extend desktop to this display." But that isn't working. As mentioned, the first part works. The second part seems like it's going to work in that the displayed content on all the monitors momentarily shrinks, then snaps back to full size. However, I still can't access the third monitor with my mouse.

    Factory reset Windows 11 24H2 (build 26100.863)

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

There are no currently listed problems resetting version 24H2 of Windows 11 and no specific steps you need to perform, are you experiencing any problems with that insider build that is causing you to perform a Windows reset?

Portable monitor multi-touch not working on startup (Windows 11)

    Hi,

I recently purchased a portable monitor with multi-touch (Visual Beat 15.6 from Amazon). I connect it to my windows 11 computer via a USB-C cable. The video works perfectly. The touchscreen is recognized by windows as a mouse running windows default driver.

On every startup, the portable monitor will be recognized as a mouse (i.e. multi-touch does not work. Moving my figure on the screen will bring the mouse pointer to my finger and moves with it. I can fix the issue by going into device manager > HID-compliant touch screen > disable / enable as suggested here: Enable and disable your touchscreen in Windows - Microsoft Support. However, I do not want to do this on every bootup.

I have tried removing and reinstall the touchscreen "device" multiple times, but it is still the same.

The issue only happens on cold startup. If I restart the computer when multi-touch is working, it boots with multi-touch working.

I tried the same monitor on a windows 10 laptop, and it works flawlessly there.

Please suggest what I can do.
