Windows 10: Extend display is not working properly on Windows 11

I connected my laptop Windows 11 to my TV, using an HDMI cable, and turned on 'Extend' mode. But only the wallpaper showed up on my TV, and none of the apps, taskbar, or anything. However, when I turned duplicate screen, everything did show up. I want to use 'Extend' option. Please help.

• Aside from the HDMI cable, have you tried using VGA cable instead to connect to your extended display?
• Can you verify if you have any audio on your speakers if you are not connected to the extended display?

Extended Displays In Windows 10 Not Working Properly

I understand that you are facing issues moving apps across the second display. We will assist you to resolve the issue.

To assist you better, I would like to know whether you had choose extend option when setting up the second monitor.

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the display driver and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

1. Press “Windows key + X” and click on “Device
Manager”.

2. In the list of devices, you should see the Display Drivers.

3. Right click on the device and then select "Uninstall".

4. In the uninstall dialog, make sure you select the option to delete the driver package from the system. This causes the driver package installed earlier to be deleted.

5. In the Action menu of Device manager, select “Scan for Hardware changes” option. This will cause the device driver to be reinstalled. Once the driver is installed, close all windows and restart the computer.
