  1. Extend Volume wizard tells me no available space on my D: disk

Hi - I use Windows 10 and am trying to get more space on my C: drive to try and improve performance and more importantly prevent messages telling me there's not enough free space to do system updates etc... I'm following the instructions in this although confusingly this is describing how to extend the D: drive - maybe it's a terminology thing 'Disk Management' shows my D: drive has 931GB capacity of which 700GB is free. But when I right-click OS D: and select the Extend Volume Wizard, it shows no available space on it but I know there is 700GB free space:

  2. Trying to combine disk space

Yes, as suspected, you appear to have two physical drives, one SSD and the other a mechanical hard disk.

The Disk 2 has unallocated free space.

Right click the D: volume on Disk 2 click the ‘Extend Volume’ option on the contextual menu, click ‘Yes’ when the warning appears.

A wizard will now begin that will guide through the steps to merge back the unallocated space with your system partition.

The wizard provides a simple procedure to merge back the unallocated space with the rest of D. Once you have selected the space, click Next, at the end of the wizard, you will see the amount allocated.

Follow the procedures from a my previous reply to partition the drive into two so you can free up space on C:

  3. I can't extend the existing volume to an unallocated space

Extend Volume wizard tells me no available space on my D: disk a70f1435-c112-45bb-ba3b-535610953170?upload=true.jpg

    Hi

I just installed Ubuntu on a partition in my secondary hard drive and removed it from disk manager in windows 10.

As shown in the above picture, there is a 285.32gb unallocated space, but I cannot extend New Volume (D) to that unallocated space.

I could choose 'extend the volume' by right-clicking New Volume and Extend Volume Wizard popped up.

But, at the end, it gave me an error message saying 'there is not enough available space on the disk(s) to complete this operation'.

When I tried to create a new volume with that unallocated space, I got the same error.

I looked up a solution on the internet and could find similar cases, but could not find any solution.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

  4. Extend Volume wizard tells me no available space on my D: disk

(Windows 10) 'There is not enough space available' when attempting to extend volume

    Background

    • Lenovo 700-15ISK Laptop (ideapad) - Type 80RU
    • Windows 10 Home 21H2 19044.2130 64 bit
    • I have two disks, I'm trying to extend the space on Disk 1
    Steps to reproduce

    1. I originally had 687.82 GB Healthy Partition on Disk 1, no idea what that was used for. Maybe I previously installed Linux on there but I honestly can't remember.
    2. I removed the 687.82 partition from Disk 1. Somewhere in this process, Windows told me to change the Disk to a Dynamic type (not sure what that meant, but I marched on)
    3. Right click on Lenovo D partition and attempt to extend it with the 687.82 GB unallocated space
    4. The following error is displayed 'There is not enough space available....'

Extend Volume wizard tells me no available space on my D: disk 980f9cbb-2e82-43f1-900a-6728d4d4b6b0?upload=true.png

Note (if it helps): I right clicked Disk 1 and checked the properties and the partition style is GPT. I've done defrag and chkdsk, there are no problems.
