Windows 10: external autodetection when the monitor turns on after inactivity

I have two monitors - internal and external, every time idle time in Windows turns off the monitors, turning them on again causes the application windows to dance after the monitors are turned on just because it takes longer extranal monitors to turn on. Such autodetection is pointless, no device has been disconnected from the computer, so it should turn on in the same state as it turned off. Apart from the fact that it takes a few seconds each time you turn it on, some applications require a restart due to DPI problems e.g., VisualStudio..How to turn off these autodetection????And could M

laptop hard drive turns off after 2 minutes of inactivity with external monitor, all times set on 30 minutes in settings

Hi, my laptop keeps going to sleep mode after only 2 minutes of inactivity when connected to an external monitor. I have Windows 10 Home, and in my power and sleep settings all of the turn off times are set to 30 minutes, same as in the advanced power
settings. Also, it makes no difference if I have Multiple Displays on 'extend' or 'duplicate', or if I'm showing only on my external monitor. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated, as this is beyond annoying. Thank you!

Please answer these questions to assist you better.

• What is the make and model of your computer and external monitor?
• Have you installed all pending Windows and driver updates?
• Do you get any error message?

I suggest you to install all pending Windows updates in your PC and also update Display drivers. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: I would suggest you to check and install any latest Windows Updates available.

• Go to Start and then Settings.
• Click on Update and Recovery.
• Check for updates under
  Windows Updates.
• Restart the system and check if the issue is resolved.

My workaround is to use PowerPoint Screen Recorder but this need additional screen capture.

The reason for Screen Recorder is Windows 10 Mouse Cursor for Office Menu item disappear when select Screen Capture App. It is cumbersome to show Tech Support what is selected on Office App on captured screen...
