    Hi MS communityI've been having a problem with CDs tonight and it has driven up the wall! Every time I insert a CD into any of the 3 computers that run Windows 10 in my house they all come back with the same error that the directory is invalid. These are brand new never opened CDs that are being inserted. I've tried using File Explorer, Windows Media Player and iTunes to burn songs to this CD but nothing has worked. I've tried disabling and reenabling it, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, tried a different brand new CD, and tried re-lettering the drive in disk management. Nothing has

    I have Windows 10 and my CD drives are I:\ & J:\ on both when I insert a CD, I Receive a error message "The directory name is invalid"

    Every time I log into my account Windows 10 (after the computer has been asleep or just logged off), or sometimes on other occasions, a popup appears telling me "F:\ The directory name is invalid." F: drive is a CD drive connected to my motherboard and
    is always attached. I have not tried to rename the drive. It may have started after connecting a removable USB thumb drive. How can I fix this problem?

    Does anyone know the solution for the error 'The directory name is invalid '? I get this error whenever I put a cd or dvd in the cd/dvd rom drive.
