Windows 10: External Disk Not Detecting

Hi,I have an external disk HDD. When I connect it with my device, the disk is not shown in file explorer and when I go to disk management it keep on saying "connecting to virtual disk service".

Can't find External Hard disk?

  What is the make and model of the external disk?
  
• 
  Does the external device is detecting on Disk management?
  

The issue you are facing could be due to external disk driver is being outdated. You can also try below steps to update the external disk driver and check.

• 
  Press Windows key + X and select
  Device manager.
  
• 
  Click on Universal Serial Bus to expand it, right click on the
  device and Update it.

External USB Storage drive not detected in WIn10

HI Dave, just to be clear on this action you suggested , I open Disk Mngt and then select drive E (the last drive listed here) and Map this to drive F for example in order to see if PC will then detect the External drive as E. Is this correct ?
