Windows 10: External disk to local disk

Hi! I have a laptop with only 118 gb of storage and a external disk with 300 gb of storage. Can I easily switch them so that my external drive becomes a local disk?

Recovering Local Disk

It could be a compatibility issue with the latest update and your local disk. We suggest updating your disk driver. Follow these steps:

• On the Start, type Device Manager.
• Locate and select Disk drives.
• Right-click on your disk drive, select Properties.
• Go to the Driver tab and choose Update Driver.
• Once done, click OK.

The issue you are facing could be due to external disk driver is being outdated. You can also try below steps to update the external disk driver and check.

  Press Windows key + X and select
  Device manager.

  Click on Universal Serial Bus to expand it, right click on the
  device and Update it.

External Hard disk contents are not visible.

• Do you hear any clicking sound when connecting your hard disk?
