    i have a wd elements 1tb hard drive . i have used it for 8 years, now it is showing disk is unknown cannot initialized , the device is connected but still not in explorer. when i go to disk management it shows me the screen to initialize the disk but when i proceed it says disk cannot be iniatilized due to fatal error in hardrive. please reply me microsoft

    Save RAW drive - Don't want data


    Open Admin command prompt, then type:
    1. diskpart
    2. list disk ======> Take note of disk # of the RAW drive
    3. select disk # ======> is the number in step 2
    4. clean
    5. exit
    Open Disk Management and initialize it, Create Simple, format.

    Hi John,

    We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

    • Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
    • Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.
    The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

    External hard drive is listed in disc management as "raw". Is there a way to open or access it?
