    External Enclosure 8TB Seagate Possible Issues?


    Hello All

    Not sure if the drive itself is having issues or if it's working by design, and the slow with Macirum backups on Laptop machine to the USB 3.0 Enclosure is working as normal, average is 3-5 hours for 1 full image of the month to go, then 2 Sundays after first of the month usually is Differentials type image backup, and usually another full at end of the month.


    Except some reason the Laptop takes ages to do the image backup at least from the storage drive on that system, it never used to many months ago, so don't know if it's something with the 8tb, or if it's the Internal laptop drive.


    Desktop image backups are fairly quick, eventually might slowly get away from using a Mechanical hard drive for internal storage of other games, and other files like music and such.


    Welcome any advice, if i need to run any scans on the 8tb drive, i can probably do those on Desktop right?

    My 8TB that works was a bare drive that I installed in an external enclosure to use via USB.

    The 5TB that doesn't work came pre-installed in the usual black plastic Seagate enclosure as a Backup Plus USB drive.

    I'm wondering if the issue isn't the drive itself but whatever hardware Seagate uses in their enclosures to convert the SATA drives to USB.

    Thanks, will do as you suggested. Also looking at a "2 Up" external enclosure but they tend to be pricey *Sad
