Windows 10: External hard disc security - WinZip? BitLocker?

How can I put a password on files in an external hard drive?It seems that BitLocker is not safe, its easy to get the password.WinZip is expensiveAny suggestion?Thanks

Remove BitLocker for external drive

We understand that you want to disable BitLocker for the external hard drive. However, we would like to know if you are able to access data from the external hard drive.



In the meantime, you may refer the steps mentioned below to disable BitLocker:

1. Type Command Prompt in the search bar on the
   Taskbar.
   
2. Right click on the Command Prompt icon and select
   Run as administrator.
   
3. Type manage-bde –off X: and hit
   Enter. (Replace X with the drive letter of the external hard drive)

Bitlocker doesn't recognize external hard drive

I am running Windows 10 pro and when I go into the policies they are listed as not configured. The hard drive is a Toshiba Canvio Basics 2 TB USB 3.0 Hard Drive. I successfully used bitlocker on my internal hard drive 2 years ago so maybe the external
drive is the issue?
