    External Hard disk Bit lock decryption Process


    Hello,


    I have an external hard disk size of 1TB, and it was encrypted using Microsoft Bit Locker feature. Now when i try to remove the Bit locker for my external hard disk, the Decryption is taking more than 20 hours and still it completed only 30%.

    Here my doubts are follows:

    1 What if i Pause the Bit Locker Decryption process and shut down the Computer! Does it resume when i Plug it again after Restart the machine?

    2 Suppose if i plug this external hard disk to another computer, does the Decryption process will resume where it paused?

    3 Is there any data loss during any of above process?


    Can you please help me out with exact answers, since its blocking lot of time for this Decryption process of my drive, where it's having full of data in it.

    Locked out by BitLocker .. Accidently plugged off External hard disk while decrypting

    So I was decrypting my external hard disk and while at 1% I accidently unplugged the external hard disk. When I plugged it back on, the external hard disk was not detected. I tried to plug it on another laptop it was detected and was asked for password but
    it said invalid password while I entered correctly. I have tried looking for recovery key but couldnt find it. HELP !

    I have tried some solutions suggested but not even one seems work. What should I do? I have everything in there of 6 years backed-up from my laptop

    For us to narrow down your concern with your external hard disk, we would like to know the following:

    • Were there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue (e.g., updates, software installation)?
    • To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
    • Do you hear any clicking sound when connecting your hard disk?

    In the meantime, we suggest that you update all your device driver.
