Windows 10: External hard disk is not shown in File Explorer

I recently exchanged my laptop with a new hp pavillion laptop. So that I am using the hard disk from old laptop as an external storage. I didn't cleared any of the datas and also the windows installation files were also there. The hard disk was working fine for 2-3 times of usage. After that when I connected the disk, it doesn't shows up in the File Explorer. And the Disk Management section doesn't shows the partition. In the screenshot, Disk 1 is the external hard disk I am using. So, anyone knows any fix for this issue.

WD not shown in Explorer but shown in Disk Management

Hi,

I recently tried to connect my WD Extrernal 1 TB passport to my windows PC. After connecting, I hear the normal click sound that appears on connecting on any external device. But I dont see any device shown in the explorer. I do see my passport under disk
management with different allocation. Kindly suggest what can be done to access the files on the hard disk. I also tried to connect it to a Windows laptop but the same thing.

NOTE: I did not make any change to either PC or hard disk.

External Hard Drive

Hi John,

We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

Cannot find (Seagate) external hard drive in File Explorer.

Thank you, Billion, for all the help. Unfortunately, the drive still doesn't show up in File Explorer. The computer recognizes it, and reads that the external hard drive is working properly. However, I still can't access anything inside it.
