Windows 10: External hard disk is not working in windowd 10 computer

I have my old laptop hard disk & that I am connecting to my new windows 10 hp laptop via sata cable. Even after connecting to laptop it does not recognizing. Same thing I did with another laptop over there its working fine.How can I fix this issue? I have updated drivers as well.

• To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
• Do you hear any clicking sound when connecting your hard disk?

External Hard disk detect issue

In the meantime, let's run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter. This troubleshooter automatically detects and resolves problem with hardware and devices. To do so, please follow these steps:

• Open Control Panel.
• Select View by: Small icons.
• Open Troubleshooting.
• Under Hardware and Sound, run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.

Help with external hard drive

I appreciate your interest in windows 10 and also for trying the troubleshooting steps to fix the issue. I understand the inconvenience you faced. I will certainly help you with this.

I would suggest you to plug in hard drive then check in disk management you can see the drive or not.

Follow the steps to check Drive in Disk Management.

• 
  Go to the Control Panel then click on the
  Administrative Tools. .
  
• 
  Under the Administrative Tool Click on Computer Management.
  
• 
  Click on Disk Management and check the External Hard Drive.
  

Also check in BIOS whether External Hard Drive is listed or not.

For help with the BIOS settings, refer to the computer manual or contact the manufacturer.

If it doesn’t work then, I would suggest you to update BIOS for updating BIOS contact Lenovo Support.
