Windows 10: External hard drive crashing after updating to windows 10

Discus and support External hard drive crashing after updating to windows 10 in Windows 10 Drivers and Hardware to solve the problem; Previously had windows 7 and all my steam games on my external hard drive.     External hard drive crashing after updating to windows 10


    Previously had windows 7 and all my steam games on my external hard drive. Everything ran fine!

    I did a fresh install of windows 10 leaving behind nothing on the external drive or my main hard drive, I formatted and reinstalled my games.

    Now randomly windows will make the sound that a usb has been 'un-plugged' and my games will crash and sometimes wont even let me run them again for hours.

    Need help!!

    After Windows 10 update, computer keeps crashing when external Toshiba hard drive is attached

    Yesterday, I had down loaded and installed Windows 10 update.

    After that Windows kept crashing for over a dozen times. The error message said “System_thread_exception_not_loaded” At that time the external hard drive (Toshiba DTP110) was connected to USB drive. I then removed the USB external drive.

    It then installed windows 10 update. As soon as I connected the external Toshiba hard drive, it started crashing and rebooting again with the same error message.

    I then left the external hard drive in the USB slot and started the computer again. It gain started crashing with the same error message.

    I am now working without the external backup Toshiba drive till you let me know diagnosis and resolve the problem.

    Please help.

    I'm a little confused. How or why are you running an OS off of an external drive? Is Windows 10 installed on this external drive now?
