Windows 10: External Hard Drive Error Cannot Initialized And Says It Have 0 Storage Space

Hello, I have a really difficult problem here. My WD "My Passport" Ultra 1Tb Hard Drive suddenly died on me. It doesn't show up in Windows Explorer. The first thing I is change the cable that I was using and plug it into another pc to see if they were the problem, but the hard drive is still unreadable.


When I check in Disk Management I can see that another hard disk is detected by my pc and says its disk 1 and its not initialized, so I tried to initialized it but there is an error when I try to do so and it says "The request failed due to a fatal device hardware error". I can't format it because there's no option to do so. Also its not unallocated space, in disk management there's no bar that indicates it.


So when I taught its strange that there's no bar that indicates space in disk management so I fired up command prompt and typed wmic diskdrive get status and it detected my external hard drive and the status was OK, then I typed diskpart--list disk, then I saw that the hard drive size that is displayed is 0 bytes.


So there's two problems happening simultaneously, the disk not initialized and the it says that it have 0 storage space.


I've tried updating the drive in device management also multiple tools from the internet and to no avail. I've also tried the command chkdsk but it scans every hard drive except the problematic one and since there is no letter assigned to the drive I cant specify it even if I typed the letter that is the next in line if I added another Hard Drive. Help Me

Why all storage space of pen drive and external hard drive not available for storage

What exactly makes you think that external storage media cannot be used for data storage?

Why all storage space of pen drive and external hard drive not available for storage in windows operating system.Why windows operating design or develop like that I able to use all storage space of pen drive and external hard drive for storage purpose.
