Windows 10: External Hard drive issue win 10 pro

Hiya Guys and Gals.

My old win 10 HD wouldnt boot, I tried the turn off 3 times and waited for the "Repair Screen" to appear which kinda did then went blank took about 20 mins for it too work out what job it was supposed to be doing like bringing up the options menu. I went into CMD mode did a chkdsk and it said all was fine. however when i tried the repair auto it just went into a constant loop infact i left it going for about 2 hours and took the kettle for a walk.

Anyway long story shoer i bought another HD reinstalled windows 10 pro no issues at all. I have an external drive plate which i can insert my old HD just to try and retrieve some data however it shows up on the THIS PC screen but as Local F: but has no size or other usual info only another drive letter D which says "System Reserved" also my old drive doesnt show up on the Disk Management screen.. Can anyone help me try get my data back or at least slap me about the head so im not awake all night mesing about with this thing...

Windows 10 Pro and External Hard Drives...

I recently bought a new PC with win 10 pro on board. I was disappointed to find that my Sabrent Dual Hard Drive bay as well as my Inateck external hard drive cable are not recognized by my laptop, a Lenovo Thinkpad. I had no issues with either of these external drives with Windows 7 Home Premium.

I took some advice I found in your forum and tried to find them in Disk management, but Disk Management never stops loading, so I cannot take the next step to refresh the drives.

What the heck is going on? *Mad

Hello, After win 10 updates, my comp no longer recognizes my external hard drive/backup. Any suggestions as to how to fix the issue?
