  1. External Hard Drive needs permission to delete Windows Back Up Folders

This HDD used to be in my laptop that broke so I converted it into an External Hard Drive. I didn't tweak the partitions or anything as I didn't run my OS on it in the first place, it was just a Storage Drive. It works fine as an external drive except there are Windows Back Up and WindowsApps folders in it that I can't delete.I've changed the Owner of the folders to my current account under my current device using instruction from here and yet I can't delete them. I get the error message:Folder Access DeniedYou need permission to perform this action. You require permission from DESKTOP-E******

    :)

    External Hard Drive

    Hi John,

We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

    • Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
    • Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.
The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

Let us know if you need further help.

    Cannot delete .Trash-999 folder

So I am trying to delete a folder from my secondary HDD called .Trash-999 that is from and ubuntu bootdisk. I managed to do it on the c:\ drive, but on my d:\ drive i am getting an error telling me that i don;t have permission to delete it.

I recently had a problem with windows permissions and fixed it on the c:\ drive with a windows re-install but i accidentally set up windows on d:\ The files contained within are from a mistaken windows install, which i tried to delete through ubuntu, it seems that ubuntu was able to move the files to the trash, but unable to delete them entirely.
When i go to security on the folder, it tells me that i don't have permission to do this action. although the permissions on the folder gives re/write to everyone. However, when i go to the individual folders in there, no one has permission and when i try to give permission i get an access denied message.

Update - I just found a nifty little program that adds a take ownership option to the right click menu, this has allowed me to (finally) delete all the folders/files i need to.

External Hard Drive needs permission to delete Windows Back Up Folders

Trying to delete a folder on an external hard drive. I get message: You'll need to provide administrator permission to delete the folder. I show that I have the permission.

I am trying to delete a folder from an external hard drive. The folder is screwing up my back up service. When I try to delete the folder I get the message: You'll need to provide administrator permission to delete the folder. I have tried everything I know and I am showing I am the administrator. How can I get rid of this folder short of copying the good folders to another drive and reformatting the external drive.
