Windows 10: External Hard drive not accessible

My external hard drive was unplugged accidently. When i plugged it back into the computer, it recogonized a previous error with it and was in the process of fixing those errors automatically when it was accidentally unplugged again. Now when i plug in my external drive the files are unaccessible. The computer still recognizes that there is a device plugged in (the D: drive shows under my computer) but when i click on the drive the computer just freezes until i manually unplug it . After countless hours of research i think i have figured out that when it was correcting the original errors and then was unplugged too soon it corrupted one or multiple files in the hard drive. So far i have tried:

1. Running an administrative checkdisk to try and read, fix, delete, and do whatever else i found (/r /x /everything i could find). It says the device is fat32 or something and then after a few hours gives me an error saying that the parameters are incorrect .

2. Uninstalling the drivers and rebooting .When i plug in tgt D drive it seems to install the driver again but then the same problem persists.

Another note: when i write click the drive on my computer and go to properties everything is blank .

3. Using a recovery software to find deleted files .which somewhat works. It shows some of my pictures and files but not all of them. But it does say what files are overwritting the files that are now not recoverable.

Is there any way to go in and delete the files that seem to be corrupted manually (not using command since its not recognizing the device)? I thought since the recovery program was able to get inside there then maybe another program can as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated because i am at a stand still .

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.
