Windows 10: External hard drive problem

Hello fellow microsoft users, ive hit a rough spot! And was hoping to get some feed back or ways i can fix this So i have a gaming pc, it was working fine i was happy and making content with my mods/games. Then i had gone away for about 8 to 9 months without playing on it but before then i had put a new internal hard drive in it, and i have soo much of my data and work on my external drive. After that long break i had set it up and thought i was gonna see all my data there, but hey my external drive letter changed from D: to E: and there was nothing to be seen on it, trust me it had soo much d

Hi John,

We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

External hard drive not recognised

Thanks for this. I've done what you suggested and been through all the steps mentioned in the article. The hard drive works fine on a Mac computer, and I've managed to copy the information on it. It must be a Surface issue so I'll try to get a chat line tomorrow.
