    External hard drive shows twice in file explorer


    My external hard drive shows twice in file explorer. When selected, same files show in each drive. Drive letter is same. Does this have anything to do with one drive or iCloud? Usage amount does not appear either. Thanks.

    External Hard Drive

    Hi John,

    We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

    • Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
    • Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.
    The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

    In Windows 10 external usb drives show twice in file explorer. Once under This PC and again under Desktop. How do eliminate one?

    According to support this isn't a flaw. I consider it to be a design flaw. The second appearance of the usb connected D drive is NOT under libraries.
