Windows 10: External Hard Drive suddenly being slow to, or not showing up on PC anymore.

My Seagate external hard drive is taking forever to connect to my laptop. It used to show up instantly when I booted up my laptop. Also, now it occasionally disconnects while accessing my files on the external drive. I have tried running Error Checks every boot up, but the problem persists. I have been using a relatively new laptop, purchased just a few months ago. Ever since I purchased it, I've had to adjust some system settings to keep it from stop reading my external drive due to inactivity. We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

External hard drive slowing down pc and very slow downloads.

I had an external hard drive that worked great until suddenly whenever it was plugged in my Pc would run very slow and I could not download anything on the external hard drive, so I threw it out and got a new one, but I am having the same problem on the new one. Help me!!!!!

• When did the files start to disappear?
• What are the troubleshooting steps you have done so far?
• Did you make nay changes on the settings of your PC or hard drive prior to this issue?
• Are you getting any error messages when trying to plug in your external drive?
• Does your external drive shows that the space is consumed?
