    i am using Windows 11 on an HP X360.My Internal HDD stopped working recently. I replaced it with a new one and trying to recover data from the old one by using a SATA to USB.1. When i try to access it from My Computer, it gives error: "E:\ is not accessible.Incorrect Function" Image 12. When i invoke chkdsk command, error is:"C:\Windows\System32>chkdsk /f E: Cannot open volume for direct access." Image 43. When i go to my computer>Right Click on USBexternal HDD>Properties,a. it shows 0 byte free, 0 byte used. Image 2b. when i try to do error checking from tools menu, it says "

    The exactly error message might be similar to the following: “Cannot open volume for direct access. The type of the file system is NTFS. IFSUTIL: Can’t open drive. Status returned = c0000043. Windows has finished checking the
    disk” Or “Cannot open volume for direct access. ‘chkdsk’ is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.”

    how to fix it?

    No access to external HDD

    Just over a week ago I posted the below problem of inability to access my external HDD. I had one response from someone who asked me to send a mailshot of my Disk Management. This failed on my first attempt but was successful on the second. Despite
    sending him/her a reminder I have heard nothing further. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SEND A POSSIBLE SOLUTION AS I CANNOT DO ANY BACKUPS!

    I have Windows 10 Pro Version 1903 and use Macrium Reflect for my scheduled backups

    to an external HDD housed in a caddy. Recently the backups have failed four times

    due to an error "the semaphore timeout period has expired". Despite trying various

    suggestions to fix from Google - no luck! Now I have no access to my external HDD

    as the drive cannot be seen in ‎File Explorer. Your help for a fix will be greatly

    appreciated.
