Windows 10: External HDD Freezing Processes Until Disconnected Cant begin scan of drive to see whats wrong

Hello, I am having a hard time figuring out how to access my External HDD. When I insert my external hard drive before boot and after my computer freezes. By freezes I mean :Explorer Fails to input actions when attempting to Load "This PC" Even clicking Properties on Drive wont load until ejectPowershell and Admin Command Prompt wont populate anything typed until eject.I can't access the hard drive from file explorer/command prompt/powershell or any applications under disk management/device manager Fail to load, but it does show that it is recognized under 3 disk names. Windows defender custom scan does not scan external drives

I have Defender Windows 10. I tried using custom scan to select and scan external drives. The screen listing the drives comes up, but the "OK" button remains grayed out so unable to scan any of the drives listed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

 

External HDD keeps disconnecting randomly

Out of no where, my HDD has started disconnecting itself a few minutes after it is plugged and requires me to manually turn the external drive on and off if I want to use it again.

What i've tried

• Restarting my PC
  
• Not using the HDD under stressful conditions and using better ventilation (to know if it could be a power or an overheating issue)
  
• chkdsk (I have separated the HDD to 2 partitions and both did not have any bad files)
  
• Reseating the HDD
  
• Changing the plugs and ports
  
• Turning off USB Selective Suspend
  

This problem appeared randomly this morning and I did not do anything yesterday that could have affected my drives
